What is Abba Tours Zante’s participation policy?

The company makes every effort to perform the scheduled excursions punctually and diligently. The company’s vessels and coaches meet all safety standards prescribed by Law for these specific tours.

Passengers are covered by third party liability insurance. A sufficient number of life jackets for adults and infants, as well as a first aid kit are made available for every boat trip.

Passengers should be at the embarkation point at least half an hour prior to the scheduled departure time.

Underage passengers should be accompanied by at least one adult, who will be responsible for their safety and supervision.
Pregnant women should inform the crew or staff about their pregnancy, so as to enjoy relevant treatment.

Passengers are responsible for keeping their personal belongings and money they may carry safe. The owner company bears no responsibility for the potential loss of property.

To confirm the reservation customers are required to pay the full ticket price

What is Abba Tours Zante’s cancelation policy?

In case of cancellation by the passenger, less than 24hours from the starting time, the ticket fee is not refunded. Participation in the excursion on another date is made though possible, provided that there are available places.

What happens to my ticket if I can not participate in a cruise or tour?

In case you are not able to participate in the tour you can give your tickets to a friend of yours and inform us about the name change.

Can I cancel my reservation in case of a medical problem?

Yes, you can cancel your reservation and get a statement from our office to get your money back from your insurance company, in case of an accident or a serious medical problem.

Do I get a refund if the tour is cancelled because of weather conditions?

If the tour is cancelled with our responsibiliity or because of weather conditions you have full refund or you can change to another date.

How old a child must be for a discount to be applied?

A child from 3 to 12 years old benefits of half price discounts to most of our tours. Babies (children from 0 to 2 years old) are free of charge to most of tours as well.

Booking Procedure

We normally accept bookings with a minimum reservation period of 1 day.

 However, we will consider alternative arrangements depending on the period and the availability.

To confirm your booking, a 50% deposit is required. The balance is payable prior the collection of the boat. The booking is valid after the deposit has been received.

We currently accept credit and debit card payments or bank transfer.

may change anytime without a notice. The price of each boat when a booking has been made and it is confirmed by payment is not altered afterwards.

Cancellation of a booking

Should you wish to cancel your booking, you should inform us immediately by telephone and a confirmatory email. The cancellation charges are 0 until 24 hours prior your boat rental starts.

Contract Details

The price stated to the contract include: 24% VAT and community tax.

Third party insurance includes: Damages caused by Self drive boats insurance covers up to 88.000 Euros and for speedboats up to 147.000 Euros. Personal damages: for those hiring self drive boats claims can be made up to 147.000 Euros and for private skippered speedboats up to 294.000 Euros. Sea pollution until 88.000 Euros for the speedboats. Insurance does not cover the first 200 Euros.

When you collect the boat: Please check the boat has lifejackets, flares, first aid kit, oars, anchor, rope and the engine of the boat is in a good condition. The boat rental company is not responsible for loss of the boat or engine, oars, anchors, etc. The renter is obliged to pay any damage done to the propeller or to the boat. It is not permitted for anyone under 18 years old, or anyone who does not swim to captain the boat. It is not permitted for anyone who does not own the speedboat driving licence to captain the speedboat.

It is not permitted to go within the boundaries stated on the map. The boats should not stray more than 500 meters from the Zakynthos coast and it is illegal to enter other country s waters. The boats must keep a distance more than:

200 meters from the external side of the sea markers for the limits where there maybe swimmers

300 meters from the usual point where there are swimmers in areas with no sea markers

within 500 meters from the coast in open sea (where there are not swimmers) it is against the law to exceed the speed of five (5) knots.

The captains of the boats must follow the International Regulations in order to avoid any crash into the sea and the boating must be done before sun rising and after sunset with the use of the navigation lights. The captains, who break the law, are subject to paying fines according to PD 381/95 (A214) and according to General Harbour Regulation No 20, which is published in the Greek National Gazette No 444/26499 and can result in criminal proceedings and penalties.

For the event of any misuse of the boat, the boat rental company has the right to retrieve the boat and terminate rental. No money will be refunded.

How to operate a motor Boat?

Full tuition is given by our experienced staff on the collection of the boat, however we are pleased to present you the operating guide of a motor boat

Check the fuel.

Lifejackets and complete statutory lifesaving equipment and first aid kit are stored in the locker.

Insert the key in the lock and stop in position.

Press trim in down position until the engine descend and the propeller enter into the water.

While the boat is still tied up, put gear into neutral and start the engine.

When the engine works at idle, untie the rope and put into the boat.

Pull in your anchor and its rope into the boat.

Put into reverse and clear 20-30 m before turning.

Put gear in neutral position. Turn the steering wheel to your way.

Press and put the red lever on the front, putting first gear.

When the boat is moving at speed, you must keep a distance of 200 m from the shore.

Keep a lookout for and keep clear of shallow water areas.

Approach your destination from 100 m slowly. Put the gear into neutral at approx. 15-20 m from the shore.

Throw the anchor in the sea from the back of the boat. Keep anchor rope out of the propeller.

On arrival, tie the forward rope to the jetty or shore and pull the anchor line tight, to check the anchor has caught, and tie it to the boat. If leaving the boat for some time slacken the forward rope a little to let the boat lie clear of the jetty.

Turn the engine off and put it in the tilt position. When tying up to a beach try to leave the boat with at least 1,5 m of water underneath. When the big waves from a passing ship come in your boat will be safe and not hit the shore or get swamped.

Keep within the area limits to ensure a quick and safe recovery service if necessary.

Watch for changes in the weather. Return to base if unsure. If the wind becomes strong please take down the sun canopy.

What I do if : Engine Stops and wont start

Check the fuel line is free.

Check petrol tank – if it is empty fill the tank with the emergency supply and call the emergency number.

Check there is not air in the fuel line and check the cap on the petrol tank is not too tight.

If the engine still won’t start drop anchor – if anchor line is too short tie on the forward rope. Failing this , use umbrella anchor located in the forward locker as this will slow down drifting.

If the engine still won’t start, rig your oars; pull up your anchor and telephone emergency number.

If life is in danger or there is nothing else you can do, use the flares in the container in the forward locker to signal for help.


You loose the anchor or the anchor stucks:

If you have lost your anchor take note of the spot and call the emergency number. Do not continue your journey without the anchor.

If your anchor is stuck, untie the anchor rope from the boat and tie on a marker (anything that will float). Call the emergency number.


If your boat is Swamped (Full of water):

Bail out the water with the bucket and sponge. Call the emergency number.


If you run aground or you damage your propeller

Call the emergency numbers provided (+306977741500 / +306976000125).

If there is a small hole in the boat it can be plugged with a piece of cloth or a plastic bag. It is best to push this into the hole from the outside if possible.

If there is a big hole pull the boat as far up the beach as you can. Call the emergency number.


If you run into bad weather:

Watch for changes in the weather. Return to base if unsure. If the wind becomes strong please take down the sun canopy.
If the sea gets rough put on your life jackets located in the forward locker and return to the nearest safe harbour and phone us with your location.

What information do I need to provide, if I make an online booking?

 You will need to provide the following information when making a booking:

  • The dates and times of collection and return.
  • The rental location(s) for collection and return
  • The car or bike group required
  • Drive age at time or pick up

        We will then check for availability and provide a car or bike rental quote.
From the quote, you can choose whether or not to confirm the booking. If you decide to confirm, you will be asked to provide your personal details.
As soon as you send us your reservation, you will receive an automated confirmation in the form of a rental voucher that you will have to present to our rep during the vehicle pick-up.
When you collect your car you’ll receive a Rental Agreement which shows your booking details.
If there is an availability problem for your selected vehicle, we will contact you as soon as possible by email to suggest amendments and alternative options. If you don’t get contacted by us, other than the automated e-mail confirmation that means that your reservation request is accepted and valid as sent.

What about the deposit, the payment, or the hidden extra costs?

You may book the vehicle you need without a deposit up front or using a credit card, you will pay at the delivery (after you get the vehicle you have booked).
We provide our customers with the following payment options:
Pay on delivery with cash or credit/debit card.
There are no hidden extra costs. Prices including the best insurance package and all extra costs are made clear and fair declared.

How do I collect my vehicle?

With Abba Travel & Rentals you can select the delivery location when booking online. An employee of our company will wait for you with your car or bike at the specified location.

There is no extra cost for the delivery and collection of your vehicle at the Zakynthos airport, the main Zakynthos port and the bus station (KTEL) ,our main office ,PLANOS, BUKA- TUI BLUE CARAVEL HOTEL entrance. We also offer free delivery and collection at almost all resorts in Zakynthos – we can deliver the vehicle at your hotel without any extra cost. If your hotel is located in a remote area of the island, an additional fee may apply due to distance (in this case the additional fee will be displayed prominently when you select the location). Please note that the delivery and collection is free during office hours (06:00 – 23:00). For out of office hours there is an additional fee of 15 euro.

Airport Service

You can collect your booked vehicle as soon as you arrive at Zakynthos Airport. Our staff will meet you immediately outside the arrivals area on Zakynthos Airport.(GATE B)
Please look for a board with your name on it and the Abba Travel & Rental logo 
Our representative will guide you directly to your booked vehicle on the parking area.

Flight Information: For airport pick-up it is essential that abbatourszante.com receives the correct flight number and arrival time. You can do this either online or by phone. If this information is not available at the time of reservation, please ensure that you inform us at least 2 days prior to your departure, via email or by phone.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

With Abba Travel & Rentals there are No additional charges in the occurrence of flight delays
All of our employees are fully informed with up-to-date information on arrival times or changes that may occur. They will wait for your arrival flight, to deliver your car, even if there is a delay.

Cancelation Policy

We don’t charge any fee for cancellations, but we will appreciate an early notification in case you need to cancel.

How old do I need to be to rent?

Rent a Car 
To rent a car from ABBA TRAVEL & RENTALS, you must hold a driving license for at least one year. Driver must be at least 21 and maximum 70 years old, at the date of pick up.
Rent a Scooter, Motorbike, ATV
To rent a Scooter, Motorbike or ATV from ABBA TRAVEL & RENTALS  you must held a driving license for at least one year and minimum age is 18 years old.

Which are the driver’s requirements to rent?

For renting any Car you need to have a valid Driver’s License for at least one year.
For renting a Scooters 50 cc ,is required a  valid driver’s license type , AM, or higher  ,for Scooters  125 cc  a valid driver’s license of type A1 or higher, for Scooters  200 cc , a valid driver’s license of type A2 or higher.
For renting a Motorbike , is required a valid driver’s license type A.
For renting an ATV, is required a valid driver’s license type B.

Do I need an international driving license?

If you come from a EUROPEAN UNION COUNTRY your local full driving license is enough to drive.  Your local full driving license is also valid for countries which are listed as contracting parties in the Convention on Road Traffic, Vienna 1968. In case you come from another country, (including CANADA /USA /AUSTRALIA) you need an INTERNATIONAL DRIVING LICENSE. If you are not sure whether your country is included, please contact us (info@abbatourszante.com) prior to making your reservation.

Are there mileage limits?

The rental rates offer free unlimited mileage, on the island of Zakynthos.

Will there be petrol in the car?

The Renter is obliged to return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel as it had when collected. There are plenty of fuel stations on Zakynthos Island.

Is it possible to take the car outside of the island of Zakynthos?

It is possible to take the car off the island of Zakynthos but only with a written approval from ABBA TRAVEL &  RENTALS. There is an extra charge of 35 €( for outside Zakynthos Road Assistance ).
In any case, when driving outside Zakynthos Island without a written approval, the insurance is automatically cancelled.
Motorbikes and ATVs are not allowed to be taken outside Zakynthos.

Is it any map in?

Yes there is. Our friendly, professional staff will give you all the information you will need about driving in Zakynthos, as well as provide you with a helpful and detailed road map and directions to places of interest to ensure you have a unique holiday experience while visiting the island.

Where can I drop my vehicle off?

The rental vehicle may be returned to the same place you are collecting (or to another location, but only with a written approval from ABBA TRAVEL & RENTALS)

Does good insurance included in the car rates?

There is no doubt about it. Online Bookings are privileged and rates Includes, without any extra cost:
C.D.W Collision Damage Waiver (Include without any extra cost) – This limits your responsibility for any damage to ABBA TRAVEL & RENTAL car bodywork. The most you would pay is your * Damage Excess * – The Collision Damage Waiver would pay the rest. The excess amount varies for each model and it appears in the lease agreement. Our online reservation system given option to “zero” the excess by choosing the optional “F.D.W (Full insurance with no excess AT ALL) at an exceptionally low charge
. S.C.D.W, Super Collision Damage Waiver policy covers your car for damages to tires- undercarriage – glass – and mirror. (Include without any extra cost)
P.A.I Personal Accident Insurance for driver and passengers. (Include without any extra cost)
T.P Theft Protection, also all  ABBA TRAVEL & RENTAL vehicles are automatically covered for Legal Liability, Third Party and Public Liability, as required by law. (Include without any extra cost)

What is the insurance policy for renting Scooter’s-Motorbike’s-ATV?

Online bikes Bookings are privileged and offer to our customers several insurance policies, to minimize their risk as much as possible.
All  ABBA TRAVEL & RENTAL  scooter’s ,motorbike’s & ATV”S are automatically covered for Legal Liability, Third Party and Public Liability, as required by law. In addition to that basic policy we provide “optional” Collision Damage Waiver insurance and Theft Insurance for the Scooters, Motorbikes and ATVs with an “excess” that varies with the model.
Helmets for Scooter Motorbike & Quads (ATV) are mandatory in Greece. We provide them to you free of charge. You are responsible for any fines for not wearing a helmet.

Are there any other mandatory insurance policies that are not included in the rates? Are there any hidden extras?

No there are not. All mandatory insurances are included in the rates. There are some optional policies, such as Baby seats, GPS, which are clearly presented as optional extras during the on-line reservation process.

Do I have to leave a deposit?

NO you don’t have to leave any cash deposit for the rental of car ,scooter ,motorbike   or ATV.

What if I break down or if I have an accident?

The Motor club provides 24-hour Road Assistance that covers all areas of the island. Simply  call +306977741500    +306976000125     +306976000124    for further assistance.

Can I extend my reservation?
